Art imitates Nature..Autumn at Willow Pond SLO
Persimmons, Apples, and Honey!
The vineyard bronzes over, the sun sets at five p.m. The color of the trees burst into fiery hues of yellow and orange and the artist workshops take a short pause. Meanwhile, the grounds at Willow Pond continue to produce and inspire with autumnal delights.
Locally grown nourishing food is central to our mission for artists in community. During a visit to the property, you may enjoy fresh honey from our hives kept near the chicken coup and down by the pond. In November, you will find trees bursting with ripe, round orange persimmons, ready to be dried or painted in a still. Or hurriedly sliced on a plate, dipped in wildflower honey, and eaten with salty cheese. The Fuji apple trees have treated us well this month, there is nothing quite like the perfect apple. The cooler crops love to bask in the golden sun and remind us that late fall is for tarts and pies. It’s for slowing down, for wool socks, for soft stewed fruit and spiced oatmeal.
