2-day Beginners Art School March 22 and 23, 2025

Vanessa Rothe’s workshop at Willow Pond brought in a great group of students eager to dive into the basics of art! This two-day BEGINNERS ART SCHOOL kicked off the first morning with line drawing and sketching in charcoal then moved on to the study of light on objects demonstrating form. Next, a spring lunch by Chef Karen of Healing Harvest Catering, this time it was some exceptionally delicious wild salmon, field greens and asparagus, fresh bread, and cookies. The afternoon was spent working with color and integrating those foundational concepts as the beginner and intermediate artists found plenty to practice and review. Vanessa’s one-on-one guidance and the supportive atelier environment made for a great opportunity to improve fundamental drawing skills while practicing composition, color mixing, and color theory. The artist students enjoyed 2 days of gorgeous sunshine, blissful Edna Valley views, fantastic fresh, local cuisine, fun company, great wine with new friends, and a chance to indulge their own artist’s journey. What a weekend indeed!
